Abstract: What is it?
I am very interested in what people think they see in this abstract art that I have created. Think of it as an ink blot test, go!

To me, this abstract art looks like an origami spacecraft.
Well, I think that when you focus on naming a specific ‘thing’- an ‘it’, it’s really just a shorthand way of naming all the characteristics of something. When I shortcut like this, I miss out on noticing all those characteristics that I might tease out and use in something else.
If you really don’t want to miss any of the shapes characteristics, you should listen to what people describe the shape as. Everyone is coming up with something different, a lot of which you probably wouldn’t have picked up on if you were to study it on your own.
I hope this helps you.
a jet with a shadow?
For sure, even though the shadow is white, it still works.
– Thanks for commenting, I hope to hear from you again.
I was thinking Spacecraft as well.. like the old Flight of the Navigator ship that morphs into a sleeker shape for speed travel.
Interesting observation, I have never seen or heard of Flight of the Navigator. I googled it but I could not find the version of the spacecraft which looks like the picture, unless it’s just your brain projecting that image onto the shape. It’s funny the way we perceive things.
-Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts rbuc82
Hey Owyn, thanks for the like. I think he was pointing to the shiny mirror surface. It’s also what came to mind for me too!
It also looks as if it’s mid morphing, something that never really has a form, more like an element – Liquid, gas, fire…
I completely understand now, thank you for enlightening me. It’s a great observation, I must say.
– Thanks to you and the other feller for bringing some old school greatness into the mix. Come back anytime!
Airplane!
I see it too, more specifically like an F1 model. Its the rounded and slightly downward facing nose and wings that bares a resemblance to this shape. My fist observation was definitely a spacecraft of some sort.
-Great to hear your opinion Schelley
Interesting abstract art, of course I love it, and learning the different perspectives! 🙂
Thank you very much, I’m glad you appreciate it in both ways as I do.
Very nice, it reminds me of a military plane.
I do agree. The weirdest observation I have heard of so far is that it looks like the Walt Disney Concert Hall building, which I also agree it looks like.
-I appreciate the feedback btriumphant2
Haha, yea a tad odd, but no problem.
Definitely spaceship
That’s was my first perception too. I also think that it looks like an origami spaceship.
-Thank you for sharing your opinion Tyler
A mouse.
Now that’s a crazy perception, if you don’t mind me saying so. Personally, I can’t envision a mouse in that shape. It just shows how people’s brains work differently, very interesting.

This is great! I currently do animation for such companies as Disney and pixar, much of my work can be found on my blog, but this is a different type of graphic design that I really enjoy!
Thanks for the appreciation, I will check out your work. As you can see by the rest of my posts, I am multi talented and get into a bit of everything. I have so much more to post as well such as character sketches and typography. I am curious, do you see anything in this abstract art as the rest of us do? I would love to know what you see.
i think it looks like a reflection of a woman dancing in some shattered glass
That’s very interesting, I love that everyone sees something different in it. I think that the shape does look like a woman’s dress but I can’t make out a woman.
– Cheers for contributing to the conversation matts1970
a woman in an orange top & grey skirt dancing in the hot summer sun…a quick glance…no fine details just letting my imagination run wild 🙂
That’s what it’s all about, imagination. It’s a powerful tool.
Looks like an alien spacecraft to me…just waiting to take off. Interesting matte texture though…and nice mix of colours.
Thank you very much, I am also very fond of the colour scheme. I chose purple and orange because in my opinion, they are very unusual yet beutiful colours that work well together. I’m so glad you like it and I do agree that it looks like a spaceship.
-Thanks for stopping by gizmofreek
I agree that it looks like some type of flying craft if you take only the coloured areas but when you also look at the white and grey areas that project from the bottom of the image it looks like a type of martial arts weapon that could be cupped in the hand and thrown to make it spin. Slicing dicing and mangling cuts – very nasty!
Oh yes, I see it now. Looking at the while shape, it looks a bit like a ninja star. When you look at it like a spaceship, the white part makes it look as though it is rocket powered and has flames blasting out of the bottom. Great observation!
-Big thanks for taking the time to view and comment on my work, I really do appreciate it!
PS Glad to get the email to prompt a look at this . It is very cool!
I am really glad to hear that and to have heard your thoughts. Cheers.
My first thought was that it looked like a hover craft from the future or something…and now I think it looks like a boat on the side…its really beautiful!
Interesting, it’s nice to have other people share their perspectives.
-Thanks for the kind words and thank you for contributing.
A pretty bow that is shaped like an airplane. Love the colors.
I can see that too. I’m glad you like the colours that I chose, I feel that purple and orange aren’t used that often but they work very well together.
-Thanks for joining in on the conversation peabea, and thanks you for the kind words.
I think it’s an origami butterfly it’s really cool..
That’s my favourite observation that I have heard so far. The colours would work very well for a butterfly.
-Thanks for joining the debate Mam
cyberduckbust, female.. (on the left).. but.. of course I’m giving in to my habbit of seeing faces everywhere 🙂 like it..
Alright, wacky comparison, I like it. I’m also glad that you like the design.
-I’m glad to hear from you bagbeater
That is a really shiny futuristic bullfrog, that is. 😉
Haha, that’s great. I was not expecting anybody to compare it to a bullfrog, very unexpected but interesting.
-I really appreciate your input, Happieness
Some type of aquatic creature.
That’s an interesting observation, the reflective quality of the shape does remind me of a dolphins skin glistening in the sun for some reason.
-I appreciate you taking the time to comment, it means a lot to me, thanks cherylmoore.
You’re welcome Owyn!
Spacecraft, sure… for the chrome finish, but does anyone see a cuttlefish? It’s not symmetrical enough to be a mechanical device. It’s a squid of some kind.
*(having now read the other comments)* cheylmoore is really on to something 😀
I will admit that I was not entirely sure what a cuttlefish was untill I just researched into it and I must admit that it really does look like one. The white pointy parts are like the tentacles and the rest is like the body, brilliant comparison. Well I learned something new today.
-Thank you very much for commenting, what you said was very intriguing.
I used to want to be a marine biologist when I grow up. Now I don’t want to grow up. 😉 Thanks for inviting me to comment. Swing by and leave a comment on my posts sometime.
Youmare very welcome, will do.
I like your blog very cool! your abstract art looks like a very futuristic jet-as there is abstract art there is abstract poetry-as a poet I have written some abstract things-a stringing of abstract words blended together to create a mood or feeling-it is free form and gives the reader instant images without any structure and form of a traditional poem-so that’s my thought and thanks for asking for my comment
best Ana Christy.
I am very pleased that you find my blog interesting. One thing that I think people may find off putting is the diversity of my posts so I try not to post everything I’m doing. On another note, a futuristic jet is what many people see including me, although there are some truly unique and interesting observations that have been posted. It may interest you to know that poetry is an art form that I was once very much into and I even won a few competitions. I find that poetry is a great creative outlet but I haven’t created any poetry in quite a few years, partly because I now release my creativity in other ways, such as creating digital art.

I see a shark.
Swimming right to left, slightly downward and away from me.
Could be, could be.
– Thanks for joining in, feel free to comment on my other posts also.
Stealth, inter-dimensional craft that can use wormholes and black holes to visit multiple universes. The shell is made of reflective material that mimics what it is flying though so nothing knows that it is there and there is no sound to be picked up. It is a chameleon and undetectable. I love it.
It sounds like you have really put some thought into it, very good. I definately felt that it could be a stealth craft, and now I know why 🙂
– I cincearly appreciate the feedback, it’s great!
Thanks for liking my post. It gave me the opportunity to discover your briliant work. s for this one, I have just seen Oblivion, and it reminds me of it…. J
That’s great to hear, I’m really glad that you like my work. I’m extremely curious to know why it reminds you of oblivion? It’s very intriguing.

Spaceship!
Definately! 🙂
– Thanks for sharing your opinion.
looks like an aircraft to me
Definitely! Please check out some of my other posts and let me know what you think.
– Thank you very much for sharing your opinion.
you’re welcome! thanks for checking out my blog too! 🙂
Reminds me of a Zaha Hadid’s beautiful architectons.
Indeed it does, I was also told that it looks like the Disney concert hall design. I definately agree with that.
– Thanks for joining the debate, I look forward to hearing for you again.
I see a futuristic mode of travel…wheeeeee!
Yes, like a warp in space and time!
Its a frog.
I do see the link, frig legs are the same kind of shape.
– Thanks for stopping by.
looking at your brilliant abstract, i could see numerous collaborations in my minds eye:- a female sniper, a chauffeur driven car, a praying mantis, a female diver, just to mention a few! What would Freud make of my mind! ha! Ha!
It’s great to hear from you! I really like your list, they are very imaginative. I really like the idea of a praying mantis or female sniper, I can see them in the art. I’m fire Freud would love to see some of the interesting comments on this post such as yours.
– Thank you very much for taking the time to comment, Caroline, I enjoyed reading yours!
